Curling Thoughts – March 16, 2013

Curling tends to be a somewhat serious sport.  While we do get to joke around a little bit during matches, the pace of the game can make it difficult to have a lot of that.  Our curling session this past Saturday was exactly the opposite of that.  As it turns out, being the night before St. Patrick's day, when that holiday is on a Sunday leads to partying on Saturday night.  And if you expected that to be just in the bars, you would be wrong.  We had a group of 16 people show up, dressed in costumes, perhaps having had a drink or two before they showed up, that were at our session to enjoy themselves.  Lots of clapping and congratulating just about everything that went on.  The surprising thing to me, is not that they were so animated, or having fun, but that they were also taking it seriously.  They were generally trying to learn how to play the game. World Women’s Curling Championship begin

On the heels of Universal's coverage of the USA Nationals, they will be covering the World Women's Curling Championships from Riga Latvia starting today.  However, in the USA it looks like it will be an internet only feed.  The nice thing is if you already subscribe to the TV channel you get the internet feed.  Here are a couple of links so you can follow all the action.
